Christy Cobb, Ph.D.

Introduction to the New Testament

March 15 & 22, 2026

Class Description

In this two-week series, Dr. Christy Cobb will introduce the New Testament focusing on the historical background, authorship, and canonization. We will begin with the Gospels and Acts; Dr. Cobb will highlight a few passages from the gospels in order to consider the similarities and differences of the four canonical gospels. We will also consider the textual connections between the Gospel of Luke and the book of Acts. In the second week, we will turn to Paul’s letters, other letters (general and pastoral), and the book of Revelation. In both classes Dr. Cobb will cover the dating, authorship, location, and genre of the books of the New Testament in order to provide a foundation for future study. Finally, she will also briefly cover the process of canonization for the New Testament.
